Multimodal transport, towards a franco-german hub



The Franco-German border consists of a river located between the North Sea and the Silk Road. Ports in the Rhine basin are now coming together to optimise this position and quickly forward goods received by sea and rail. Nine have already partnered up around Strasbourg, Mulhouse and Duisburg to pool their skills and streamline goods flows between ports.

Artificial intelligence in ports



The Maersk cyber attack has left its marks. Ships and ports are now vulnerable to having their VSAT systems hacked. Piracy has evolved. It still exists in some parts of the world, but we can prevent it. Software piracy is another threat entirely that requires constant vigilance. It has emerged throughout digital transition of ports and the birth of autonomous ships.

Shipping and inland waterways working towards energy efficiency



LNG-fueled ships have set sail. Electrical ferries are being tested. Airbus will attempt to tow cargo using kite-surf sails. Alternative shipping transport is no longer science fiction. It doesn't have the choice. The international Marpol convention requires environmental externalities from shipping to be reduced as far as possible.
