2012, the year of Morocco in logistics

Guest country at SITL Europe in March and the launch of Logima SITL in Casablanca in May: 2012 is the year of Morocco in logistics.

Morocco offers real international business opportunities thanks to its new global position in transport, logistics and industry. At the same time, its national market is structuring and has new needs in terms of services.

Testimony to these evolutions, Eric Hémard, President of ID Logistics, presents an update on the development of local activities.

With 32 million inhabitants, Morocco is open to logistics. The jewel of this policy is the Tanger Med port, inaugurated in July 2007 and which represents an investment of 3 billion euros over several phases until 2016. A truly global port, including the African continent, this new port complex demonstrates the international ambitions of the kingdom.

SITL Europe 2012
E-commerce logistics

Riding out the crisis, electronic commerce has seen double-digit growth each year as the offering and online demand expands. It is expected that there will be 100,000 merchant sites in 2012.

This dynamism, coupled with market characteristics, demand highly specialised transport and logistics services which are more and more eco-friendly.

The growth in numbers of “Clicks & Mortar” ensures a strong market progression over the next years. Each increase guarantees sustained and diversified demand for transportation services-including logistics, mechanisation and information systems to manage flows of goods.

Integrating e-commerce in a logistics organisation therefore requires reactivity, flexibility and agility.

The Global Supply Chain
New expectations for shippers

Faced with an unstable environment marked by strong volatility of demand and costs, global supply chains are adapting to more agile and flexible models.

An exclusive study by consultants PricewaterhouseCoopers on the main supply chain trends, testimonials from shippers and transport-logistics providers will be unveiled at the inaugural conference of SITL Europe with strategic thinking on the new challenges to logistics chains.

SITL Europe 2012 on the starting-blocks

Rich and interesting, the programme for SITL Europe 2012 is in place. An exhibition complete with new offerings, around one hundred conferences where professional visitors will once more find clear answers to their needs and questions. European Rail Freight Days, the Eco Transport & Logistics exhibition, RFID University, Innovation awards, exclusive surveys, essential meetings to address all logistics challenges.

With one and a half months to go, SITL Europe 2012 is almost completely sold out. “96 % of stands are occupied, an increase of over 10%. Within this, the number of new exhibitors has shown an even greater growth, increasing by 20%” says Laurent Noël, the Event Director.

Facing up to tomorrow’s logistics challenges

S
ITL 2012 is innovating in order to facilitate the link between demand and offer as well as research in strategic information. Themed pavilions, Innovation Awards, the European Rail Freight Days, a demonstration area dedicated to the warehouse of tomorrow are among the added value elements to be discovered at this year’s edition.

It is essential that time spent by the professional visitors to meet with exhibitors and be informed of their latest solutions is valuable and productive, given the increasing pressures and limitations of available time.

SITL puts everything in place to achieve this objective. Complementing the exhibition and traditional visiting routes around large sectors of the exhibition, SITL Europe has this year created new themed spaces. Their objective is to quickly identify and find the relevant offerings and the leading participants.
