The European Rail Freight Days

Wednesday 28th and Thursday 29th March 2012

Rail freight development represents a major opportunity to build an efficient and sustainable transport system in Europe.

Being less pollutant, rail does seem to offer a competitive alternative to road transport for certain segments of the market. The challenges are substantial and begin with the development of large infrastructure projects, interoperability and liberalisation. It is also equally essential to promote short distance transport by reinforcing the network flow and deployment of short line rail operators. Following a programme in 2011 which included the participation of 525 leading professionals, the 3rd edition of the European Rail Freight Days will provide an even richer experience.

Large and small shippers, public organisations, public and private operators…

All the key players will be present and more than 800 professionals are expected to attend!

“Rail freight, a competitive mode for the future in Europe. Viewpoints from shippers, operators and public bodies”

An exclusive presentation by Anne-Laure NOAT, EUROGROUP , European Rail Freight Days Plenary

Conference / Wednesday 28 March 9:30

"Can one consider rail freight as a transport mode of the future? Eurogroup Consulting has collected testimonials “on the ground” from shippers, buyers and operators in order to answer this question. While French rail freight is going through an acute crisis, certain of the participants in the sector are already taking action to revitalize rail freight while waiting for a more collective and European approach to see the light of day. What pragmatic actions can and have been put in place? Long term, what difficulties have to be overcome in order to make rail freight a transport mode of the future? Beyond a simple snap shot of the current situation, the study by Eurogroup Consulting paints a picture of a transport mode in renewal”
